Comparison

Surikat or DeepSeek?

Let us start with the point that matters most to many people: DeepSeek is free, we are not, and no plan of ours can match zero.

In one sentence: if price is your deciding criterion, DeepSeek wins and there is nothing we can do about it. The difference lies elsewhere: its privacy policy states that personal data is stored in the People's Republic of China, ours states processing in the European Union. Only you can say whether that matters for what you tell an assistant.

What DeepSeek does better than us

  • It is free

    On 28 July 2026 the vendor's site presented its assistant as free and showed no consumer subscription. None of our plans can match that, and we have no free tier.

    deepseek.com, read on 28 July 2026.

  • Models published openly

    The vendor publishes several of its models openly. That is exactly the principle our own service rests on: we serve only open-weight models, published by their authors.

    deepseek.com, read on 28 July 2026.

  • Models present in public leaderboards

    The public LMArena leaderboard listed models from this vendor on 28 July 2026. None of the three open-weight models we serve appears on it, so we publish no quality comparison in figures.

What we do better

  • Where the data is stored

    DeepSeek's privacy policy, updated 10 February 2026, states that the vendor collects, processes and stores personal data in the People's Republic of China. With us, conversations and model inference stay on European infrastructure, hosted in France.

  • Nothing to do to stay out of training

    The same policy provides a right to object to personal data being used to train the vendor's models. With us there is no objection to raise: your exchanges never feed training.

    cdn.deepseek.com/policies/en-US/deepseek-privacy-policy.html, updated 10 February 2026, read on 28 July 2026.

  • A subscription that shares without mixing

    The Family plan gives 4 distinct personal accounts for €3.00 including tax per person per month, each with its own conversations, memory and quota.

    Our own pricing grid, in euros including tax.

  • A counterpart established in France

    Our legal notice and privacy policy name a company established in France, to which you can address your access, rectification and deletion requests.

Who each one is right for

Choose DeepSeek if

  • price is your main criterion: it is free, we are not;
  • where the data sits is not one of your criteria;
  • you want to experiment with openly published models.

Choose us if

  • you want your data processed in the European Union;
  • you want separate accounts for several people;
  • you would rather configure nothing for your exchanges to stay out of training;
  • you want a counterpart established in France to exercise your rights.

Other vendors' prices are quoted in the currency and tax basis they display themselves. Ours are in euros, including tax. We do not convert for you: an exchange rate frozen into this page would age faster than everything else on it.

Every price and every policy quoted on this page was read on the vendors' own pages on 28 July 2026, and each one carries its source. This information changes often: check with the vendor before deciding. If you spot a line that has gone stale, write to us and we will fix it.

Is DeepSeek really free?

On 28 July 2026 the vendor's site presented its assistant as free and showed no consumer subscription. If being free is your deciding criterion, it is the better choice, and we cannot match it.

Where is my data stored with each of them?

DeepSeek's privacy policy, updated 10 February 2026, states that the vendor collects, processes and stores personal data in the People's Republic of China. On our side, conversations and model inference stay on European infrastructure, hosted in France.
